Minister Mbayu Pledges Cameroon’s Commitment To Uphold Organisation’s Values

The Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in Charge of Relations with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu Mbayu, has reiterated Cameroon’s commitment to continue upholding Commonwealth values.

Minister Felix Mbayu gave the assurance while speaking at a ceremony to mark the 75th edition of the Commonwealth Day in Yaounde on March 11. The event took place under the theme: “One Resilient common future: Transforming our Commonwealth”.

He highlighted the enormous benefits Cameroon has enjoyed since joining the Commonwealth. Minister Mbayu talked about Cameroon’s adaption of its educational system to meet the demands of the world today, security benefits and most importantly fighting climate change. In the course of doing this, he said the country also targets fostering development, peace and living together.

In addition to the commitment, Minister Felix Mbayu, prescribed resilience amongst Commonwealth nations so as to permit them conquer their current battles which is that of fighting against climate change. He also talked about investing in the youthful population for the future is in their hands and fostering sustainable development amongst is member countries.

Minister Felix Mbayu shared the belief that if the youths are given more opportunities to show their talents, it will be huge and Commonwealth nations will be the primary beneficiaries.

On the aspect of Climate Change, Minister Felix Mbayu, called for joint efforts amongst member countries to make the fight easier and achievable. He said it will take only a strong and resilient Commonwealth.

Also present at the event was the Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon, Her Excellency, Lorraine Anderson. She delivered a speech at the event on behalf of the various diplomatic missions of the Commonwealth countries accredited to Yaounde.

She saluted the Cameroon’s strides in marching up with the vision of the Commonwealth organization. Lorraine Anderson as well congratulated the four young Cameroonians who distinguished themselves in a competition launched by the various Commonwealth diplomatic missions in Cameroon. The projects seek to boost projects development and enhance job creation.

The ceremony also saw the reading of King Charles’ message to the Commonwealth nations with a call for all to put hands on deck to achieve the goal of the common.
