Senator Nfon Mukete IV Thanks Biya, Throws Banquet
The Nfon of Kumba and Paramount Ruler of the Bafaws, Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, has expressed gratitude to the Head of State, President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, following his authorisation for the rehabilitation of the Kumba-Tombel -Loum road on a distance of 33 kilometres.
Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko made the appreciation on Saturday, July 15, at his palace in Kumba Town while receiving stakeholders involved in the exercise.
These include State officials and those of the South West Development Authority, SOWEDA, as well as the military.
Speaking in an audience granted to them, Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko also thanked the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, and the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, for the push being given for the realisation of the rehabilitation works. He praised the executing establishment, SOWEDA , for the extra mile it has taken to kick-start the project by using its internal finances, leaving behind other priorities. The Nfon promised that his palace will push for financial resources to be release to SOWEDA for the project.
Nfon Mukete IV said the way the rehabilitation exercise has started shows that God is for the project.
The road, Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko stated, will facilitate movements between Kumba and the rest of the country, couple with the ongoing construction of the Kumba-Ekondo Titi road.
“It will also help farmers to evacuate their crops from the farm to the market,” he noted.
He went on to thank the military in ensuring the security and safety of the workers as well as equipment while the exercise last.
The Nfon said all those involve in the rehabilitation works will be highly favoured and blessed.
On his part, the General Manager of SOWEDA, Ogork Ntui, represented by his Sub Director of Roads, Daniel Ndifor, said they cannot wait to do the road because they want it to be passable this rainy season. He revealed that SOWEDA started the first phase of the road from Loum to the Moungo bridge over a distance of 10 kilometres and the second phase from Kumba to link up with the first phase.
At the moment, he said, rehabilitation works from the Kumba is at the village of Teke in Kumba III Subdivision. The exercise involves grading and compacting in order to make it solid and duration.
He concluded by thanking the military in ensuring their security.
The forum was an opportunity for the Divisional Delegates led by the Divisional Delegate of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Ignatius Muma, to congratulate the Nfon for his appointment by the President of the Republic as Member of the Senate.
The stakeholders were entertained at the esplanade of the Kumba Nfon’s Palace with choral singing at the behest of Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko by the Bafaw Choir before a sumptuous banquet offered him.
Among the dignitaries who attended the audience were the Commander of the Sixth Military Rapid Intervention Battalion(B.I.R), Colonel Rene Danzabe; Meme divisional delegates of Public Works, Emmanuel Azange Ticha and; Housing and Urban Development, Clifford Ayuk; Director of Kumba Regional Hospital Annex, Dr. Paul Enongene Ngang; First and Second deputy mayors of Kumba I and Kumba II Subdivisional Councils, Sarah Lobe and Vivian Aigona Chibili, respectively and; Prince Ndoki Mukete.
