Reconstruction Plan Constructs Solar-Powered Classrooms

The Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West regions, PPRD-NW/SW, has constructed and handed some solar-powered classrooms in the Wum Council area in Menchum Division of the North West Region.

The plan has constructed four classrooms in Government School Bangwe, a regular Head Teacher’s office and solar electrification at the same school.

The Mayor of Wum Council, Dighambong Anthony Mvo during the ceremony expressed gratitude to the Head of State and partners involved in the reconstruction process.

“Thank you very much for this beautiful building, this is better than it was, what we need to do now is start thinking of how to acquire computers for this institution”, he said.

Dighambong Anthony Mvo during the handing over ceremony encouraged the population to remain committed to peace. He reiterated that, it is only through a peace that development can be attain.

It Is worth mentioning that, the Presidential Plan for Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West regions is designed to build on humanitarian relief efforts, develop exit strategies from dependency on humanitarian assistance, and address the recovery needs of communities.

Officials also talked of the putting in place the foundations for longer-term reconstruction, sustainable development and equitable growth.

To this effect, the United Nations Development Progromme, UNDP which is the PPRD implementing partner is committed to continue working closely with the government to realised the projects.

The mayor talked of agendas which are: “to promote inclusive and sustainable development in favour of poverty reduction and inequalities in a united and peaceful Cameroon”.

The Presidential Plan For Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West regions has as major objective in its recovery phase; to reinforce social cohesion, the rehabilitation of basic infrastructures and re-launch of local economies in the two regions.

The population of Bangwe In Wum municipality expressed satisfaction and thanked the partners for giving priority to their community and constructing a magnificent and attractive building to revive access to education.
